The stations

One ship, several consoles, and nobody with the whole picture. That’s not a limitation of the simulator — it’s the entire game. Your console shows you a slice of reality, and the only way the ship survives is if you tell the others what you can see.

The five consoles

A full bridge. Read yours before your first shift — five minutes each.

Helms

Flies the ship. Everything about where you are and how fast you’re getting somewhere else.

Weapons

Shields, beams and tubes. The one who decides what gets shot and what doesn’t.

Engineering

Power, heat and repairs. Nothing on this ship works better than you let it.

Science

Scans and identifies. The only person aboard who actually knows what’s out there.

Relay

Comms, probes and the wide view. Your voice is how the ship talks to the rest of the galaxy.

Captain

No console at all. Just the hardest job on the ship.

When you’re short-handed

Combined consoles put two jobs in one seat. Fewer people, more to do, and a bridge that still flies.

Tactical

Helms and Weapons in one seat. Fly it and shoot it yourself.

Operations

Science and Relay together: know it and say it.

Engineering+

Engineering with more of the ship under its hands.

Single Pilot

A whole fighter in one seat. This is how you fly alone.

Extra screens

Main screen, damage control, power management, the database.

Two rules that apply to every seat

Say what you see, out loud. A fact nobody else heard is worth nothing. Half of all lost ships were lost because someone knew and didn’t say.

You can hold more than one console. Nothing stops you taking two — people do it all the time on a short crew. Just be honest with yourself about how much you can watch at once.
